Description

I drew these to experiment with some paint schemes for my fictional Eastern Railroad. Up top is an idea for an express freight service like Pacemaker and Timesaver— I’m toying with the idea of having those cars jointly owned by Eastern and a regional partner. At bottom is a more typical freight scheme— that particular logo is inspired by the fictional Eastern and Portland Railroad as seen in the 1959 film “It Happened to Jane.” I’m not sure if I’ll actually use it on any future models yet. =p

I took plenty of cartoony liberties with the car designs, but they’re essentially based on a 1937 AAR car (top) and a 1918 USRA car (bottom).

I might release these drawings as paintable templates, if anyone’s interested.

I love the car on the bottom and logo on the right side of the car on top.

It Happened to Jane thank you for reminding me of the name of that movie.
I saw it on TCM several years ago when they had a all train movie night. I stayed up for as long as my mom would let me and taped the rest. I also got to see Buster Keaton's the general and Our Hospitality
that night.
